SCOPE AND MOTIVATION
The rapid evolution of wireless communications, including the forthcoming 6G, necessitates innovative approaches to create an intelligent, dynamic, and efficient wireless interface, which will leverage both data-driven insights and model-based techniques. In this context, the integration of data analytics and modeling methodologies emerges as a pivotal enabler, offering new insights, tools, and strategies to address complex challenges and exploit the abundant opportunities in wireless communications and networks. The concept of Data-Model Integration (DMI) seeks to bridge the gap between physically intuitive modeling and artificially efficient learning frameworks, harnessing the complementary strengths of empirical-analytical methods, and innovating the hybrid interface of wireless systems.
This workshop explores the challenges, opportunities, methodologies, and applications of DMI innovations. By combining empirical data generated by wireless components and theoretical models in wireless transmission, DMI unlocks new frontiers in wireless communication, e.g., from enhanced spectrum utilization and intelligent resource allocation to dynamic adaptation and self-optimization. By bringing together diverse domains including wireless communication and data science, and different sectors from both academia and industry, we seek to foster interdisciplinary collaboration of DMI and accelerate its real implementation.
