Talk Title:
Orthogonal Delay-Doppler Division Multiplexing (ODDM): A Novel Delay-Doppler Domain Multi-Carrier Waveform for NextG

Talk Abstract :
A wide range of emerging mobile applications, such as vehicle-to-everything (V2X), high-speed railway systems, are expected to be supported by future wireless networks. Communications in such high-mobility scenarios suffer from severe channel Doppler spreads, where the corresponding linear time-varying (LTV) channels deteriorate the performance of the widely adopted orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation. As a novel and fundamentally new waveform, orthogonal delay-Doppler division multiplexing (ODDM) or delay-Doppler domain multi-carrier (DDMC) in general has been proposed to address the challenges of waveform design for LTV channels. This talk aims at providing the state-of-the-art of this newly invented modulation scheme to unveil its fundamentals, connections with existing multi-carrier signal waveforms, and identify major technical challenges and new applications related to ODDM.
